Location

The Marine Science Magnet High School is located on a seven-acre site in Groton at the intersection of Shennecossett Road and Brandegee Avenue within easy reach of the Birch Plain Creek Estuary, Pine Island Bay, and Project Oceanology at Avery Point - all of which play an integral role in the magnet school program. The estuary provides a fresh and brackish water ecosystem while Pine Island Bay houses shellfish beds owned by the school. Project O partners with the magnet school to provide the blue water and maritime skills portion of the curriculum.

The 250-student school building itself houses a large aquaculture facility and state-of-the-art science labs along with general classrooms, a library media/technology center, ‘Great Room,’ CAD lab, electronics lab, conference rooms, offices, and other specialty rooms and display areas.
