Curriculum Overview
Below are the curriculum overviews for years 1-4 at the Marine Science Magnet school.
First Year
General studies use marine integrations and applications where appropriate. Marine studies focused on science, field research, basics of boat handling and design, fundamentals of seamanship and navigation. Students can transfer smoothly into and out of sending.

Second Year
Focus in general studies remain on marine integrations and applications, where appropriate. In marine studies, Integrated Science 2 continues studies in physics, biology, chemistry, earth science, includes preparation for CAPT. An extended aquaculture practicum provides the principle source for the introduction of technology, engineering, and resource management principles, as well as applications in marine science.

Third Year
In Marine Studies, students take a science lab course and two intensive cources, one in Marine Science and the other in Aquaculture, Technology, and Resource Management. Field work is extensive and sustained, and, when possible, individualized to develop students' expressed interests.
Students may take additional elective courses related to their interests on "dry" days.

Fourth Year
Students may take up to 3 c.u.'s in General Studies' electives. in Marine Studues they choose between 3-4 credits immersion in Marine Science or Aquaculture, Technology, & Resource Management. As part of this immersion, they should expect internships, co-op experiences or both. As culminating projects they should expect to complete a sustained, performance-based, independent project that includes a formal exhibition and assessment.
